Any Excuse

I love the art of Memento Mori! I particularly appreciate the Mexican take on it which is warm and playful and infused with a joyful spirit of celebration for people that we have loved and lost.

Autumn is the time when we contemplate death because we start to see echoes of it in nature. This is why All Hallows’ Eve and Dia De Los Muertos happen when they do.

This piece is heavily inspired by Posada. He made a small print very much like it. I chose these words because of the brief trend during the Pandemic when people were dressing up to stay home in the lock down, wanting to do something different and fun… I didn’t do that, but I thought it was cool.
